About the Role Our client is seeking a Sales Tax Manager to own and lead all aspects of their indirect tax function. You will be responsible for sales and use tax compliance nexus analysis taxability determinations audit management and supporting business operations with tax expertise across multiple states. This is a high-impact role that requires both technical tax knowledge and the operational mindset to manage fast-moving transaction-heavy environments. You’ll work closely with finance legal sales and operations to ensure accuracy compliance and scalability in all things sales tax. Key Responsibilities Manage the sales & use tax lifecycle including registrations rate calculations exemption certificates and monthly filings. Conduct nexus reviews and stay current on state/local tax law changes impacting our business. Evaluate and implement sales tax automation tools (e.g. Avalara Vertex TaxJar). Partner with finance and sales teams to ensure accurate taxability rules in customer invoicing. Lead and support sales tax audits ensuring timely responses and minimal exposure. Collaborate on tax strategy for new products services or geographic expansion. Maintain accurate tax documentation and ensure compliance with internal controls. Requirements: 5+ years of sales and use tax experience ideally within technology SaaS or professional services. Strong understanding of multi-state indirect tax laws and compliance requirements. Experience with sales tax automation systems Avalara (required) Vertex or similar. Hands-on experience managing audits nexus determinations and high-volume transactions. Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting Finance or related field CPA or CMI is a plus. Comfortable working in fast-paced high-growth environments. |
