We’re just getting started!About the roleQSIC is looking for a Senior Engineer to work with our full stack Product Engineering teams - developing our React-based fleet management interface and the Python/Django API that powers it. This is a remote fulltime role for someone in Australia in the AEST timezone who will collaborate closely with our Engineering team distributed along the east coast and work with our Dallas United States team where required. QSIC manages a fleet of tens of thousands of devices distributed globally and we build both internal and self service tools to manage that fleet for our enterprise customers. As part of one of our Product Engineering teams you will use your technical expertise to iteratively deliver new capabilities and features to our customers - both our back-office and self-serve tools as well as back-end optimisation and scheduling systems powered by that data. A typical week in this role may include:- Working within a full-stack team to scope and design a new set of functionality for our internal or external users such as new management or workflow interfaces dynamic reports and visualisations and chat and AI powered interfaces. Our product engineering teams iterate through 6-8 week focus areas giving you the opportunity to work across our entire product.- Contributing to Product Requirement Documents scoping upcoming work and RFC documents designing the technical challenges to be solved by the team. Recent projects have included a major rewrite of our Permissions and Authentication system tools to visualise fleet capacity and overhauling tools used daily by our Operations team to commission devices.- Working with our technical teams to iteratively improve our developer experience (DX) and tooling including build and deployment processes local environment tooling and observability tools.As someone with a background working on production-grade web applications you’ll bring a passion for delivering stable robust software and a drive to continually improve the experience for our end users. You’ll be eager to collaborate with your peers through the development process participating in our code review and design review practices. As a full stack developer you will be comfortable bridging the gap between back and front end even if you find yourself spending more time in one.- Improve the CI/CD pipeline and infrastructure deploying our API via ECS.- Manage and scale our infrastructure to ensure it keeps pace with a rapid expansion in active devices new customers and new markets.- Work closely with your team’s Engineering Manager Lead Engineer Product Manager and Design team to iterate on the technical vision for our product.- Collaborate with our Data & AI team on projects related to our scheduling and optimisation system measurement reporting and innovative AI and ML tools.- Collaborate with our In Store Systems and Platform teams to continually improve the DX observability and maintainability of the system.- Participate in our in-hours support incident management and after-hours on call processes as a technical expert.About YouExperience You must have:- Experience as a software engineer having worked on production applications both as a solo contributor and as part of a team. You understand how to get things shipped and you know the tradeoffs between when to go solo and when team collaboration and alignment is more important.- Comfort working across a range of technology up and down the stack - you can help design the interaction for a React component implement the API endpoint for it deploy it to production and monitor for feature use and production issues.- Working technical fluency in: Python and Django or a similar back-end language such as Ruby or Typescript and an eagerness to contribute to the Python codebase. React or similar front end frameworks. RESTful API design and implementation. RDBMS fundamentals particularly MySQL or Postgresql.- Comfort working in cross-functional agile teams in a fast paced collaborative environment. We skew towards light-weight Kanban-style processes where we can with close collaboration between Product Engineering Design and non-technical stakeholders.- Experience using and managing CI/CD pipelines ideally with Buildkite and/or Github Actions.- Experience using and managing AWS in particular services such as S3 and ECS.- Experience using observability and monitoring tools - we use Datadog but you may be familiar with another similar tool.- Experience working effectively in a remote-first organisation that crosses timezones and cultures.- Full unrestricted work rights for Australia (unfortunately we are unable to offer immigration assistance for this position).Bonus points if you:- Have experience with: Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform. Core Responsibilities Provide guidance and support to Project Managers (PM) to ensure high quality project delivery across the following areas: + o Effective Sponsor communication to proactively manage project timelines expectations risks and issues. + o Communication with internal cross-functional teams and external stakeholders (including third party vendors and site staff) to execute projects within agreed timelines. + o Development of appropriate study plans and documents to support the effective execution of all Project Management activities. + o Consistent and accurate identification management and reporting of study-specific risks. + o Project financial management including revenue recognition accurate forecasting and contract management sponsor invoicing and vendor payment management. Develop effective relationships for assigned Sponsors to successfully manage sponsor grievances and drive strategic partnerships. Manage PM/PA resource assignments across the department in conjunction with the PD team proactively projecting PM/PA resource need. Monitor line reports’ compliance with use of expected company systems and processes training completion and timecard entry leave entitlement administration and expense processing. Actively manage the performance of line reports and individual career development strategies. Implement and support staff retention initiatives drive staff recruitment (including interviews and probation period management) and manage staff severance. Autonomously manage all contracted services and vendors for clinical projects to ensure that projects are commenced and completed within defined scope timelines and budget. Participate in study-specific or vendor audits conducted by sponsors or regulatory agencies and respond to audit observations as required. Ensure Serious Adverse Events are reported (initial and follow-up) as per protocol requirements. Qualifications Skills and Experience Bachelor’s level degree in life sciences pharmacy nursing or equivalent field. Previous experience as a Project Director in a CRO for at least 2 years with a minimum of 2 years’ experience line managing staff in a CRO or Pharma company. Previous training and a working knowledge of ICH GCP and applicable regulatory requirements. Clear understanding of the requirement to adhere strictly to client confidentiality. Effective written and oral communications skills including the ability to keep clients senior management and other stakeholders informed of project updates and other pertinent information. Demonstrated ability to take initiative in problem solving and in exercising good judgment. An understanding of Privacy Legislation as it applies to the Clinical Trial Environment. Ability to work under pressure in a multi-disciplinary team environment. Willingness to work in and be supportive of a positive and dynamic team culture. Ability to travel. Minimal level of travel may be required (up to 20%). Can build and maintain positive relationships with management peers and subordinates. Ability to work independently or in a team environment as needed. Display strong analytical and problem-solving skills. It will be your responsibility to make sure these projects are delivered in a timely and cost-effective manner and ensure that the connection is managed during the development through to the construction process. Duties and responsibilities To provide assistance during project development by identifying factors influencing and influenced by the grid connections subject to experience. To manage and be responsible for the submission of grid applications that include all relevant information required by the different DNSPs (Distribution network service providers) & TNSPs (Transmission Network Service Providers) ensure they are submitted in a timely manner and they progress through the NSPs & AEMO (Australian Energy Market Operator) processes without delay. To negotiate with NSPs & AEMO throughout the review process of Grid connection application to achieve 5.3.4AA in timely manner To manage the review process for grid connection offers to ensure they meet LighsourceBP requirements and represent the minimum scheme required. To be responsible for the creation and maintenance of framework agreements (including performance management) with ICPs to ensure LighsourceBP has the required delivery capacity at the appropriate commercial terms. To play a strategic role in the development of standardised arrangements for grid connections that reduce installation time and cost whilst maintaining or improving plant. Formalise a standardised response sheet to common risk items as identified by Investor and Technical Advisor alike. Represent Grid Department at relevant Development Meetings and Delivery Meetings as required by LightsourceBP. Represent Grid Department at relevant third-party stakeholder events as required Attend LightsourceBP sites and third-party premises as required PERSONAL SKILLS Knowledge Strong technical knowledge of Australian Grid in all states at both DNSP & TNSP levels Strong knowledge and capability of dealing with AEMO Mentor Engineers /Senior Engineers to develop and grow their skills in Grid connection space Work Skills Full conversant with the end to end DNSP & TNSP process for generator connections Experienced at negotiating the legal and commercial aspects of connection contracts Commercially astute Good network of contacts across the TNSP and AEMO environment.
