About the role The Financial Controller role is responsible for overseeing the company’s financial operations ensuring accuracy and compliance and providing strategic financial insights to support executive decision-making. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting financial planning and internal controls with the ability to manage a small finance team and implement best practices for a scaling organization. Location: Remote must be available 9am - 5pm EST What you'll do Financial Management & Reporting + Manage financial reporting ensuring accuracy compliance and timeliness in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements. + Oversee all accounting functions including AP AR payroll and general ledger maintenance. + Prepare accurate and timely monthly quarterly and annual financial statements. + Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements. + Manage cash flow forecasting budgeting and variance analysis. Strategic Planning & Analysis + Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership for strategic decision-making. + Support the development of financial models for business planning and forecasting. + Conduct profitability analyses for different service lines and business units. Internal Controls & Compliance + Develop and maintain strong internal control procedures. + Coordinate annual audits with external auditors. + Monitor and ensure compliance with tax laws corporate governance and financial regulations. Team Leadership & Collaboration + Lead and mentor a small finance team ensuring professional growth and high performance. + Collaborate with department heads to develop budgets and cost control measures. + Partner with operations and legal teams to ensure accurate billing and case-related financial reporting. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Finance Accounting Economics or related field 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity. Expertise in financial reporting Strong understanding of GAAP tax regulations and financial compliance requirements. Deep understanding of regulatory requirements compliance and financial best practices Experience with Rippling (HRIS) and QuickBooks Online (Accounting) preferred but not required Experience in professional services legal or consulting industry preferred but not required.
