POSITION OVERVIEW: The Actuarial Director/Manager role is responsible for managing a team of pricing and modeling actuaries within our Personal Lines actuarial team. This team supports the enhancement of our homeowners pricing model (general linear models) and is responsible for driving improvement in a book of $0.8B of annual earned premium. The Actuarial Director/Manager role provides overall management and technical oversight to a team of analysts with varying degrees of experience and is expected to take on a more hands on approach when required. This role requires partnership across the Personal Lines actuarial team as well as the broader organization including Personal Lines State Management Underwriting Product Technology and Finance. Direct responsibilities include managing annual model updates with an eye towards driving rating segmentation improvements supporting product development and leveraging analytics to advance homeowners pricing strategies and solutions. About the role Retirement Actuarial Valuation is looking for an Actuary II who can take on a role of asset modeling for VM-21 and VM-22. This role will initially be focused on the VM-21 for registered indexed and variable product lines but will also include VM-22 for indexed products in the coming years. This position requires an individual who can understand the details of asset modeling liability modeling and VM-21/VM-22 reserve and capital requirements. Cross department collaboration will be key in this role as it will interface heavily with corporate ALM teams. You will also have communication with senior leadership and possibly executive management. In the future you may supervise a small team of actuarial students. What you will do Lead the integration of asset modeling with liability projections for principles-based reserving of retirement products focusing on how investment assumptions and specific holdings impact product profitability solvency and capital metrics. Provide support and some direction in developing and optimizing investment strategies especially as they pertain to backing fixed indexed annuity liabilities. Perform detailed analysis and provide insights on the impact of regulatory and accounting changes (e.g. NAIC GAAP LDTI) on asset modeling and reserve valuation (specifically VM-22). Serve as a subject matter expert on Fixed Indexed Annuities including Registered fixed indexed annuities including the modeling of index strategies hedge instruments crediting designs and embedded guarantees. Ensure asset models adhere to statutory accounting standards regulatory requirements and internal audit controls. Document methodologies assumptions and controls used in asset models ensuring transparency and audit-readiness. Mentor junior actuarial analysts and collaborate cross-functionally with finance capital markets risk and portfolio management teams.
