Remote Management of our Ukrainian 2D environment art team : + control of progress and delivery + quality improvement + art and technology research and development including AI research + mentoring of other artists + reporting to/coordination with studio management This position requires hands-on art creation as well as management of a small team (3-4 artists currently). Due to the war our Ukrainian artists are currently located in different locations inside and outside Ukraine. Ukraine studio's office is still in Kyiv but Legou Games also has a studio and a team in Paris. Candidate Profile What We're Looking For : 3+ years experience working in the game industry as a lead or senior artist Portfolio with high-quality examples of 2D environment concept art in casual / cartoonish style (Disney / Pixar inspired) Highly skilled 2d illustrator and sketcher Deep understanding of game art assets pipelines and workflows Deep understanding of architecture styles and principles Familiarity with Photoshop Painter and Unity 3D software Comfort and curiosity with AI assisted creativity Good management and communication skills Strong sense of responsibility Emotional intelligence and diplomacy Upper Intermediate or higher spoken / written English Bonus points : Art / Architecture school background Passion for SLG games and experience in creating them Familiarity with 3d tools like 3ds max or Zbrush Experience in agile-based / SCRUM development. Hello! Stepmates Studios is a 2D animation studio based in Melbourne. We’re expanding our team for a six-month feature film contract and are looking for an experienced Animatic / Storyboard Artist who can take a script (plus reference images—and sometimes only the script) and deliver moving animatics in Storyboard Pro. Permanent roles may be offered to the right candidate. What you’ll do Break down scripts into beat boards thumbs and full storyboards then time them into moving animatics in Storyboard Pro. Stage shots with clear cinematic intent: composition camera moves acting and continuity for comedy/action beats. Work from minimal materials when needed (script + refs) or adapt to rough thumbs when provided. Export review-ready cuts (H.264) and deliver clean .sbpz files with organised scenes shots and panels. Take direction from the director/producer iterate quickly and hit deadlines. What you bring Proven animatic/storyboard experience for 2D cut-out animation (portfolio/reel with moving boards required). Expert proficiency in Storyboard Pro (we use SBP Harmony familiarity is a bonus). Strong drawing fundamentals: posing expressions perspective and clear readable panels. Great visual storytelling instincts—economy of shots continuity and comedic/dramatic timing. File/layer/version control discipline (labels folders scene/shot naming). Reliable communication ability to take notes and deliver on schedule.
