About the Role We are building a modern Know Your Customer (KYC) platform designed for the Australian market — helping businesses verify and monitor customers partners and vendors with data-rich real-time and fully auditable tools. As a Senior Software Engineer you’ll play a foundational role in architecting and delivering this platform. You’ll work across backend systems data infrastructure and product APIs — building secure scalable systems that interact with public registries risk databases and compliance logic. We’re looking for someone who can move fast without breaking things write clean maintainable code and proactively collaborate with product and data teams. What You’ll Do Build Core Systems Design and develop backend services APIs and integrations to power the KYC product. Build and optimize data ingestion pipelines for business registries sanctions lists court records and more. Implement core verification and risk scoring logic (e.g. PEP screening watchlists entity matching). System Architecture Contribute to overall architecture decisions choosing the right tools and patterns for scalability reliability and compliance. Work with DevOps to manage deployment pipelines monitoring and infrastructure (e.g. AWS containers CI/CD). Cross-functional Collaboration Work closely with product managers designers and data analysts to turn requirements into running systems. Translate regulatory requirements into practical testable code. Participate in code reviews system design reviews and continuous delivery processes. About You 5+ years of backend or full-stack development experience in production environments. Proficiency in at least one modern backend language (Python Node.js Go or similar). Solid understanding of REST APIs authentication flows and event-driven architecture. Experience working with SQL databases (PostgreSQL preferred) and data-heavy systems. Passion for writing well-tested readable and secure code. Comfortable owning features end-to-end and working across layers of the stack. Bonus: Experience with RegTech FinTech or compliance platforms. Exposure to identity verification data matching or open government datasets. Familiarity with TypeScript React or frontend frameworks is a plus but not required.
