Senior Cloud Engineer Location Remote Contract Hourly Pay Range $95-$108 We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Engineer to support large-scale cloud modernization initiatives within AWS environments. This role emphasizes designing automating and maintaining secure scalable cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred) CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer experienced in cloud infrastructure delivery automation and supporting migration projects in regulated environments. Key Responsibilities Design develop and implement automated cloud infrastructure solutions using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform). Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines utilizing GitLab incorporating deployment strategies such as Blue/Green or Canary. Collaborate with cloud architects and application teams to deliver secure scalable cloud infrastructure. Automate infrastructure provisioning configuration management and application deployments across all SDLC environments. Support cloud migration efforts greenfield deployments and platform enhancements. Monitor troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure operating system and application environment issues. Implement infrastructure changes through enterprise change management processes. Optimize system performance reliability and operational efficiency through automation and monitoring. Maintain and improve source code repositories branching strategies and automation frameworks. Develop and update technical documentation runbooks and knowledge transfer materials. Ensure compliance with security standards audit requirements and operational best practices. Mentor team members on cloud technologies automation tools and DevOps methodologies. Participate in evaluating emerging cloud services and automation technologies. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 5+ years of hands-on cloud or infrastructure engineering experience. Proven experience designing migrating and supporting applications in AWS including AWS GovCloud. 4+ years of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) experience. 3+ years of CI/CD pipeline development using GitLab or similar platforms. 2+ years scripting experience with Python Bash or similar languages. Strong understanding of Git-based source control and branching strategies. Experience with AWS services such as VPC EC2 IAM Config GuardDuty Inspector and related networking/security services. Knowledge of application and infrastructure monitoring troubleshooting and performance metrics. Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively across technical teams. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Ansible or other configuration management tools. Familiarity with DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles. Experience with automated testing within CI/CD pipelines. Understanding of SLAs SLOs SLIs and non-functional requirements. Proven ability to lead complex initiatives or mentor junior engineers. AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer. HashiCorp Terraform Associate certification. Experience supporting highly regulated or enterprise-scale cloud environments.
