About The Role The Application Security Engineer – Staff 2 at Omnissa is a senior technical leadership position within the Product Security team. This role is pivotal in shaping the security posture of Omnissa’s product portfolio including Unified Endpoint Management Virtual Apps and Desktops and cloud-native and mobile platforms. The successful candidate will operate as a technical influencer setting standards defining security architectures and guiding engineering teams to embed security best practices throughout the development lifecycle. This position emphasizes hands-on technical expertise strategic thinking and the ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct management responsibilities. The role offers the opportunity to tackle complex ambiguous security challenges and make a significant impact on the organization’s security maturity. Qualifications 12+ years of hands-on application security experience with a proven track record of technical influence Deep knowledge of application security vulnerabilities and mitigation techniques Experience leading threat modeling secure design and security architecture for distributed and cloud-native systems Proficiency in Java or C++ with the ability to review and reason about production code Broad security expertise across application system cloud and mobile domains History of driving technical change and mentoring senior engineers Excellent documentation and communication skills to influence engineering and product leadership Self-starter with the ability to work independently and solve ambiguous problems Pragmatic mindset with a focus on practical strategic solutions Preferred qualifications include experience testing agentic AI systems building automation solutions for security processes and prior pen testing experience within multi-tenant SaaS environments. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience. Responsibilities Define and set the technical direction for application security across Omnissa’s product portfolio establishing standards patterns and guardrails for engineering teams. Lead threat modeling practices embedded within the development lifecycle for cloud-native distributed and mobile architectures. Develop security architecture reference designs to streamline security reviews and ensure consistent security practices across features. Identify architectural risks early in the development process and influence product roadmaps and design decisions. Conduct manual code reviews and application security testing across Java and C++ codebases translating findings into actionable guidance. Scale code review efforts using AI-assisted analysis and custom CodeQL queries tailored to Omnissa’s codebase and vulnerability patterns. Perform variant analysis to ensure consistent remediation of vulnerability classes across the codebase. Triaging and validating externally reported vulnerabilities assessing exploitability severity and business impact and coordinating remediation efforts. Translate security findings into systemic improvements addressing root causes in design and implementation. Define evolve and improve the Security Development Lifecycle (SDL) driving measurable security improvements. Enhance the feature security review program shifting security considerations earlier in the development process and scaling across teams. Develop and mature the product penetration testing program ensuring findings lead to systemic fixes rather than isolated patches. Build and scale the security champions program mentoring engineers and creating training materials to extend security expertise organization-wide. Establish and track metrics to measure the effectiveness of security initiatives and communicate progress to leadership.
