About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Engineer to join MANTECH’s dynamic team within the National Capital Region. This role is integral to a new initiative aimed at supporting the rapid design deployment operation and sustainment of enterprise-scale AI data and mission platform capabilities across cloud edge and classified operational environments. The successful candidate will work on developing robust backend microservices designing secure APIs and architecting cloud-native solutions that enable advanced AI operations and data processing. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a strong educational background and extensive experience in software development and distributed systems. Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Software Engineering or a related technical field along with a minimum of five years of relevant experience. Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Rust Go Python or TypeScript is essential. Candidates should have demonstrated expertise in cloud-native technologies particularly Kubernetes and experience designing and implementing RESTful and GraphQL APIs. A solid understanding of distributed messaging and data technologies such as Kafka Redis or NATS is preferred. Experience working within defense or intelligence environments and holding an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph is advantageous. Responsibilities The Software Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining scalable backend microservices and distributed systems that form the backbone of enterprise AI and mission platforms. Key responsibilities include designing and implementing secure high-performance APIs to facilitate AI operations across cloud and edge environments. The role involves architecting and deploying cloud-native event-driven architectures that leverage container orchestration tools like Kubernetes. The engineer will contribute to the development of Kubernetes-native applications and adopt cloud-native engineering practices to ensure system resilience and scalability. Additionally the candidate will utilize emerging technologies such as OpenTelemetry OpenRouter or LiteLLM to enhance system delivery and operational efficiency. Collaboration with cross-functional teams including data scientists security specialists and system administrators will be essential to ensure seamless integration and deployment of platform capabilities.
