"About the team ImageX turns raw sensor data into the imagery and elevation products that power TomTom's map of the world. We pull in aerial and satellite imagery aerial lidar vehicle-based lidar and vehicle traces and turn them into the imagery layers and elevation models that make automated map generation possible — at global scale. About the roleWe're looking for a senior applied scientist to push our image processing and remote sensing work forward. You'll work across the full pipeline from raw sensor data to production-scale map products blending machine learning traditional image processing and large-scale cloud engineering. You'll also bring fresh research into our world adapting published techniques to the specific challenges of mapping the planet. ➡ What You'll Do ➡ Design and build image processing pipelines — combining machine learning and traditional computer vision — that turn raw sensor data into map-ready imagery products Work across remote sensing data types aerial and satellite imagery aerial lidar and digital elevation models (DEM DTM DSM) Extract map information from street-level and aerial imagery Process and reconstruct 3D scenes from lidar point clouds Build batch ETL workflows on Azure and AWS that scale to world-scale compute Read the latest research and adapt it to our data and problems turning promising results into tools that measurably improve map quality What You'll Need ➡ Significant experience in image processing computer vision or remote sensing including shipping production systems Strong Python skills with hands-on experience in OpenCV Experience working with lidar or point cloud data in 3D Experience running batch processing workflows in the cloud (Azure Batch or similar) A track record of reading research papers and turning them into working solutions on real messy data Comfort operating at global scale where ""edge cases"" show up by the millions What's Nice to Have ➡ Experience generating DEM/DTM/DSM products Background in photogrammetry or 3D reconstruction Publications or open-source contributions in computer vision or remote sensing ➡ What we offer A competitive compensation package of course.  Time and resources to grow and develop including a personal development budget and paid leave for learning days as well as paid access to e-learning resources such as O’Reilly and LinkedIn Learning. Time to support life outside of work with enhanced parental leave plus paid leave to care for loved ones and volunteer in local communities.  Work flexibility where TomTom’ers in agreement with their manager and team use both the office and home to focus collaborate learn and socialize. You’ll also help update these in real-time ensuring our maps are pushing the world forward instantly.
