About the Role Torc is developing Level 4 autonomous semi-truck software to transform how freight moves across the world. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Metrics for Release (MFR) team you will play a key role in translating business and system requirements into production-ready software that evaluates autonomy performance and supports release readiness. This role will work across the entire MFR ecosystem partnering with requirements and systems teams to take high-level safety and performance goals (SPI requirements) and turn them into scalable reliable pipelines and services. Your work will directly impact how we measure validate and ultimately ship autonomy safely at scale. What You’ll Do Translate SPI and system-level requirements into technical designs and production implementations. Build and maintain Python-based services and AWS data pipelines supporting metrics and validation workflows. Work closely with requirements systems and validation teams to ensure accurate implementation of safety and performance metrics. Process and analyze vehicle telemetry and validation data to produce meaningful system signals. Implement release validation logic tied to automated testing and evaluation pipelines. Debug and resolve issues across data pipelines telemetry flows and metric computation systems. Contribute to workflow orchestration and automation systems (Temporal or similar). Participate in design discussions code reviews and continuous improvement of engineering practices. What You’ll Need Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Software Engineering Computer Engineering Robotics Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Systems Engineering or related field plus 6+ years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree & 3+ years OR PhD & 1+ years. Strong Python development experience. Strong experience working with AWS (S3 Lambda ECS Step Functions etc.). Experience building or maintaining data pipelines or backend systems Ability to take ambiguous or high-level requirements and translate them into working software. Experience debugging complex systems using logs telemetry and data. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work cross-functionally. Nice to Have Experience with Temporal or similar workflow orchestration tools. Experience working with telemetry event data or time-series datasets. Automotive or autonomous systems experience. Experience building validation metrics or release-related systems. Exposure to safety-critical or high-reliability environments. Hiring Range for Job Opening US Pay Range $160800 $193000 USD
