The incumbent works independently within the service and reports to the service chief. Duties include but are not limited to the following Interprets diagnostic digital radiography CT MRI and US examinations of the brain spine neck body extremities and internal organs as appropriate. Primary responsibilities will include supervising the teaching of the Radiology Resident Physicians. Accesses studies for interpretation through the CAVHS Picture Archiving and Communications System(s) and reports findings electronically through the CAVHS voice-recognition dictation software. Communicates and documents communication of life-threatening findings immediately to referring physicians at remote facilities Functions in a professional manner in all relationships with management co-workers and referring physicians. Protects printed and electronic files containing sensitive data in accordance with the provisions of the Privacy Act of 1974 and other applicable laws Federal regulations VA statutes and policy and VHA policy. Protects the data from unauthorized release or from loss alteration or unauthorized deletion. Follows applicable regulations and instructions regarding access to computerized files release of access codes etc. Uses word processing software to execute several office automation functions such as storing and retrieving electronic documents and files activating printers inserting and deleting text formatting letters reports and memoranda and transmitting and receiving e-mail. Uses the Veterans Health Information and Technology Architecture (VistA) to access information in the Medical Center Computer System

Work Schedule

Monday-Friday 800am-430pm Tele-Radiology positions were granted a 180-day mid-term extension from the return to office mandates for clinical staff. Although this position is currently remote it is subject to change based on the needs of the organization. In which case office space would be assigned at a local VA Facility/CBOC or Federal Agency. This position may be filled as Virtual (i.e. the employee may work at a VA facility or VA-leased space other than the facility that is hiring the employee) or Remote (i.e. the employee will not work at a VA facility or VA-leased space. Typically this means working from home 100%). Telework has not been authorized. VA supports the use of filling virtually to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service increase worker productivity and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. Potential duty location may be discussed during the interview process.

Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State Territory or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia. Residency Training Physicians must have completed residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. • Those approved by the accrediting bodies for graduate medical education the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) in the list published for the year the residency or fellowship if applicable was completed OR +
• One year of post medical school training (internship first year of residency or transitional year residency) approved by ACGME or AOA followed by two years of post-training independent practice (performing under a full and unrestricted license) in the United States OR +
• Non-US residency training programs followed by a minimum of three years of verified independent practice in the United States (performing under a full and unrestricted license) performing duties related to the position they are applying for (United States fellowships would be creditable towards this requirement) which the local Medical Staff Executive Committee deems to have provided the applicant with appropriate professional training and believes has exposed the Physician to an appropriate range of patient care experiences. + Exceptions - Residents currently enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited residency training programs and who would otherwise meet the basic requirements for appointment are eligible to be appointed as ""Physician Resident Providers"" (PRPs). PRPs must be fully licensed physicians (i.e. not a training license) and may only be appointed on an intermittent basis. PRPs are not considered independent practitioners and will not be privileged rather they are to have a ""scope of practice"" that allows them to perform certain restricted duties under supervision. Additionally surgery residents in gap years may also be appointed as PRPs. - In rare and unusual circumstances the Facility Director can submit a memo to the VISN Director through the VISN Chief Medical Officer who may approve requests for reasonable exceptions to the residency training requirement for Physicians whose composite record of experience accomplishments performance and qualifications warrant such action. Preferred Experience

Formal fellowship (or equivalent experience) in Neuro Imaging. Board certification in Diagnostic Radiology.
