In this role you will lead design demonstration and iterative development of hardware technologies enabling rapid assembly of reactor system components with enhanced maintenance and inspection capability. This Lead's responsibilities will mesh Remote Handling operations into modular design with influence on system touchpoints to enable efficient handling. Additionally you will lead team members and mentor junior engineers building foundational expertise through design and test of prototype systems. Responsibilities Production Component Development Applies lifecycle design practices including maintainability inspectability and decommissioning considerations during component development Acts as a "Job Description Summary = The Senior Mechanical Analysis Engineer works within the Mechanical Analysis team of the GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GVH) Engineering organization. Work scope typically includes the following essential responsibilities: Develop creative solutions and reduce analysis complexity to create accurate and effective solutions for complex engineering problems. + Analyze primary plant structures to develop loads and response characteristics. + Confirm Reactor Pressure Vessel (RPV) or Reactor Internals components meet structural stress and fatigue criteria. + Qualify RPV or Reactor Internals repairs or replacement components considering static dynamic thermal and flow-induced loads. Evaluate static dynamic thermal and vibrations loads (and other similar analyses) to determine loads on reactor systems and internals components. Perform linear and non-linear structural evaluation to ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel code stress and fatigue qualification criteria. Translate design information into detailed finite element models of BWR primary structures and equipment using Finite Element methods and GE in-house computer codes. Engage customers to define scope review results and discuss technical risks. Work with the technical leader to establish an effective work plan including time estimates schedule estimates requirements and work processes. Identify and manage project execution risk. Apply engineering fundamentals and 1st order engineering principles to establish and/or confirm expected performance. Provide clear and complete analysis documentation in accordance with GE engineering procedures. Analysis results typically provided in an engineering report for use by external customers. Ability to present analysis results in a clear organized and concise manner. Manage time effectively to provide quality deliverables within the expected project timeline. Communicate effectively to leadership the status of work activities Effectively manage multiple priorities Coach and mentor less experienced engineers to increase overall knowledge while assuring a successful outcome. Required Qualifications: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited college or University. Minimum of 8 years applicable experience performing mechanical analysis Eligibility Requirements: The preferred work location for this role is at the GEH Headquarters in Wilmington NC but highly qualified (US based) remote candidates will be considered. Desired Qualifications: Master’s Degree or greater in an engineering discipline from an accredited college or University Nuclear Industry knowledge / experience or other highly regulated industry. Strong knowledge of mechanical analysis fundamentals – stress analysis heat transfer non-linear systems vibrations fatigue fracture mechanics and drafting practices (including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing). Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives effectively facilitate meetings and provide Experience using static transient and dynamic simulations to model complex structures. Experience coaching and mentoring to less experienced coworkers. Working knowledge of the ASME Section III and XI Codes. Demonstrated ability to model using ANSYS and APDL Working knowledge of scripting tools such as PROCD Python VBA etc. A self-starter willing to take initiative The base pay range for this position is $112000-160000. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience education and skill set.
